In a week of UK news being dominated by Brexit - just for a change - the EU proved itself once again to be a skilled counterparty to negotiations.

Out of the Brexit arena, the European Commission also proved itself to be consistent and fearsome opponent, hitting Google with yet another fine in the billions for continuing to adopt abusive practices within its advertising division. This takes the total fines for Google to a little under $10bn in the last two years.

Commentators are talking about this as EC v US Tech, and they may be right.
